Transmission Mounting and Transmission Support

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine Support Bridge (10 - 222 A)

Shackle (10 - 222 A/12)

Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80 - 200)

Removing

4-Cylinder 2.0L TFSI Vehicles


Danger of breaking the engine cover.

Always follow the removal sequence.

- Carefully remove the engine cover from - 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 -.






- Remove the air filter housing.




Risk of destroying electronic components when disconnecting the battery.

Observe measures for disconnecting battery.

- Remove battery.

- Remove the bolts - arrows - and the battery carrier.






- If required, release the seal clip with the (80 - 200) and open up the seal.






- Disconnect any hoses and cables in the area of the (10 - 222 A) lifting eyes on the engine.






- Set (10 - 222 A) on the bolted fender flanges (vehicles until 05.2008) or the steel plate (vehicles after 05.2008), as shown in the illustration.

- Slightly pretension the engine with the spindle, do not lift.

Vehicles with 6-Cylinder 3.2L Engine

- Remove the air filter housing.






- Remove air filter housing - arrows -.






- Disconnect any hoses and cables in the area of the (10 - 222 A) lifting eyes on the engine.






- Set (10 - 222 A) on the bolted fender flanges (vehicles until 05.2008) or the steel plate (vehicles after 05.2008), as shown in the illustration.

- Engage spindles in lifting eyes or at shackles.

- Preload the engine/transmission subassembly slightly using the spindle.

All Vehicles

- Remove the bolts - arrows - in order to remove the transmission support from the transmission mount.






Remove the Transmission Support

It is not necessary to remove the transmission support in order to remove the transmission mount.

- Remove the bolts - 1 -.






- Lower the engine/transmission assembly slightly with the spindles.

- Remove the transmission support - A -.

Transmission Mount, Removing

- Remove all required parts in order to reach the bolts - 1 -.






- Remove the bolts - 1 -.

- Remove the transmission mount - A -.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Subframe Mount Overview ] Description and Operation.

Replace bolts that are tightened to the specification.

- Tighten transmission mount - A -.

If the transmission support was removed - A -:






- Install the transmission support - A -:

- Lift the transmission by the engine support bridge spindle until transmission support touches transmission mount support arm.







Risk of damaging the threads in the transmission support by inserting bolts crooked.

Before installing bolts - arrows -, transmission support and transmission mount support arm must be absolutely parallel to each other. If necessary, raise rear of transmission with trolley jack.

- Remove subframe.

- Install transmission mount support arm on transmission support.

- Remove (10 - 222 A) from engine.

- Install battery carrier and battery.

- Install the air filter housing.
