Disconnecting and Connecting the Harness Connectors
• The connector station is located in the underbody under the front seat area.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
• Airbag Adapter (VAS 6281)
Connectors, disconnecting
Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
- Bring headrest into lowest lock position.
- Move seat as far back and up as possible.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery with the ignition on.
- Unclip the front cover - 1 - with (3409) and pull cover in the direction of the - arrow - off connector station- 2 -.
- Remove the wire holder - 3 - from the connector station.
• The number of harness connectors may vary depending on the equipment. The description shows the version with the most equipment.
Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove side airbag connector - 1 -.
- Connect the airbag adapter (VAS 6281) to the side airbag connector on the front seat => [ Connecting ] Airbag Adapter (VAS 6281) Connecting.
- Vehicles with seat heating: Disconnect the connector for the seat heating - 2 -.
- Vehicles with power seats: Disconnect the connector for the power supply for seat adjuster - 4 -.
- Disconnect the seat belt latch connector - 5 -.
Vehicles equipped with a DVD player:
- Push the grommet - 3 - to the side.
- Disconnect and free up the electrical connectors - 1 - and - 2 - and free up the wiring harness.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
When connecting the wiring harnesses happens in reverse order, note the following:
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
