Charge Air Cooler
Removing
• If there are small impressions on the fins, refer to => [ Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers ] Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers.
- Remove the bolts - 1, 2, 3 and 5 -.
- Lift the lock carrier cover - 4 - and hang it on the radiator grille - arrow -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the air duct - 1 - from the air filter housing intermediate flange - 2 -.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove the bumper cover noise insulation toward the rear.
- Release the clamps - A arrows - and remove the air intake grille - 1 - at the left and right from the lower section of the bumper cover - arrow B -.
• The bumper is not shown in the following illustrations.
- Release the retaining tabs - A arrows - and tilt the left and right air ducts - 1 - toward the center of the vehicle - arrow B -.
- Remove the air guide hose from the charge air cooler by loosening the hose clamp - arrow -.
- Remove the bolt - 1 -.
- Remove the air guide hose from the charge air cooler by loosening the hose clamp - 1 -.
- Push the lock downward - arrow A - and move the charge air cooler upward slightly in direction of - arrow B -.
- Remove the charge air cooler upward from the radiator - arrows A - and push it in direction of - arrow B -.
- Remove the charge air cooler from the left side downward - arrow C -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• If there are small impressions on the fins, refer to => [ Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers ] Coolers, Condensers and Charge Air Coolers.
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Charge Air Cooler Overview ] Charge Air Cooler Overview.
• The hose connections and charge air system hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps of the same type as those equipped by the factory. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
• To mount the charge hoses on their connectors securely, spray the bolts on the used clamps with rust remover before installing.
