Convertible Top Headliner







Convertible Top Headliner

The convertible top remains installed in the vehicle when removing the cover.

It is not necessary to remove the convertible top headliner when removing the convertible top cover.

- Lower the convertible top into the convertible top compartment.

- Remove the seal - 1 - and remove the screws - arrow - on the trim - 2 - on the front rail.





- Remove the screw - arrow - on the retaining strip - 1 - for the seal - 2 -.





- Remove the left and right rear screws on the front roof guide trim panels.





- Unclip and remove the front rail trim - 1 - at the locations marked with the - arrows -.





- Loosen the convertible top headliner at the front rail and remove the screws - 1 - on the retaining strip - 2 -.





- Drill out the rivet heads on the convertible top headliner mounting on the left and right side of the front rail.





- Remove the roof retaining strip from the front rail.





- Remove the nut - 1 - on the rail 1 and remove the bracket - 2 -.





- Drill out the rivet head - arrow - on both sides and remove the diverting eye.

- Drill out the rivet head - arrow a - and remove the diverting eye.





- Drill out the left and right rivet head and the pull-spring - 1 -.

- Drill out the rivet heads - arrow b - on the pull-spring bracket - 2 -.

- Drill out the rivet heads on the diverting eye.





- Drill out the rivet head - arrow - on the main guide diverting eye - 1 -.





- Remove the screw - arrow - on the convertible top headliner control bracket - 1 -.





- Drill out the rivet head - arrow - for the diverting eye on rail 2.





- Remove the screw - arrow - on the rear window tension cable - 1 -.





The screws have a locking fluid and must be replaced.

Clean the threaded holes with a thread tap to remove any left over locking fluid before installing the convertible top headliner.

- Drill out the diverting eye rivet heads on rail 4.





- Drill out the rivet head on the pull-spring - 1 -.





- Lower the convertible top.

- Drill out the rivet head for the diverting eye - 1 - and the main guide.





- Raise the bracket and starting on the side, remove the seal - 1 -.





- Remove the convertible top headliner from the bracket starting by the straps the outside and using pliers - arrow -.





- Remove the convertible top headliner profile - 2 - from the bracket - 1 -.





- Remove the convertible top headliner - 6 - from the retaining strip - 7 - all the way around the rear window.





- Remove the rod - arrow - from the loop in the headliner.





- This disengages the convertible top headliner straps - 1 -.

- Close the convertible top half way.

- If the vehicle has a Comfort headliner, unclip the remove the frame for the rear lamp.





- Drill out the rivet heads - arrows - on the fold assist - 2 - and on the mounting strap - 1 -.





- Fold up the headliner - 1 - and remove it and the side molding out of the rail between the convertible top frame.





- Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.
