Modular Wiring Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat
Modular Wiring Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat
• The wires between the seat pan and the connector station are inside a double-shell corrugated tube in the so-called modulate wiring routing.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim removal wedge (3409)
Opening corrugated pipe and removing individual wire
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components, refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove front seat:
• Standard and Sport Manual Seat. Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seats ] Manual Standard Front Seats.
• Standard and Sport Power Seat, Comfort Seat and Super Sport Seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seats ] Power Standard Front Seats.
- Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136) => [ Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.
- Open the wiring bracket - 1 - using the trim removal wedge (3409).
- Remove the wiring bracket from the corrugated pipe - 2 -.
- Open the corrugated tube and replace the faulty wire or the side air bag. Refer to => Electrical Equipment 97 Removal and Installation => [ Driver Side Airbag Igniter or Front Passenger Side Airbag Igniter ] .
Install individual wires and close corrugated pipe
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- When bundling and placing individual wires in the corrugated tube, make sure the wires are not twisted.
• Note the installation position of the two-part corrugated tube to the wiring harness and the position of the wiring bracket to the corrugated tube.
- The beginning of the corrugated tube - 4 - should be placed immediately after the clip - 2 - or cable tie around the wiring harness - 3 -.
- Make sure the two-part corrugated tube locks cleanly over entire length.
- After connecting both halves of the corrugated pipe, wiring bracket - 1 - should be positioned and clipped into place according to the illustration.
- Make sure the side - arrow A - of the cable bracket connects to the last rib - arrow B - on the corrugated pipe.
- Install the cable ties, wiring bracket and clips in the same positions as before removal.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on, refer to.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again, refer to .
