Removing
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove front seat. Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seats ] Manual Standard Front Seats.
- Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.
- Remove tunnel side trim panel. Refer to => [ Trim, Sill Side ] Trim, Sill Side.
- Remove the seat angle adjustment handle. Refer to => [ Seat Angle Adjustment Handle ] Seat Angle Adjustment Handle.
- Remove the shoulder pin - 2 -.
- Remove the bolt - 3 -.
- Remove the seat angle adjuster - 1 -.
Installation
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- Always clean the threaded holes for the self-locking bolts, for example, using a thread tap.
- Replace the shoulder pin - 2 - and the bolt - 3 -.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
