Seat Cushion Extension

Removing


• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove front seat:

• Manual Sport seat, refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seats ] Manual Standard Front Seats.

• Power sport seat and super sport seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seats ] Power Standard Front Seats.

- Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Remove trim. Refer to => [ Seat Cushion Extension Trim ] Seat Cushion Extension Trim.

- Remove the seat cushion extension as far as the stop.

- Disengage the retaining tabs - arrow A - and - arrow B - on the upholstery - 1 -.





• The illustration shows the upholstery disengaged.

- Remove the cover with the upholstery - 1 - upward.

- Disengage the tabs - arrow C - from the seat cushion extension base plate - 2 -.

- Fold the upholstery upward.

- Remove the bolts - 1 - on the seat cushion extension base plate - 2 -.





- Unclip the retaining tabs - arrow A -.





- Remove the seat cushion extension base plate upward from the seat pan - 1 -.

- Disengage the tabs - arrow B - from the seat pan.

- Disengage the sides and back of the seat cover - 2 - - arrows - on the seat cushion extension base plate - 1 -.





- Remove the seat extension base plate form the front seat.

Installation


• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

- Always clean the threaded holes for the self-locking bolts, for example, using a thread tap.





- Replace all self-locking bolts.


To secure the new bolts, also install nuts on the seat pan side.

- Install a nut - 3 - on the seat pan side of each bolt to secure the bolts after installing them.

• Ignore - items 1 and 2 -.

• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.

• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
