Height Adjustment Motor
Height Adjustment Motor
Removing
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove tunnel side trim panel. Refer to => [ Trim, Tunnel Side ] Trim, Tunnel Side.
- Remove tunnel side trim panel. Refer to => [ Trim, Sill Side ] Trim, Sill Side.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - on the height adjustment motor - 2 -.
- Release the tension in the torsion bar. Refer to => [ Torsion Bar ] Torsion Bar.
If tension is not released when loosening or tightening the threaded connection between the adjusting spindle and the seat pan, the threaded hole in the seat pan will be damaged or destroyed.
- Remove the bolt - 2 - on the height adjustment motor adjusting spindle - 1 -.
- Do not damage the bushing inserted in the bearing area - 3 - when removing the bolt - 2 -.
• The bushings cannot be replaced with workshop materials.
• If the bushings are damaged, the corresponding assembly parts must be replaced.
- Remove the bolt - 2 - for the adjusting spindle - 1 - for the inclination motor (preset by the manufacturer).
- Do not damage the bushing - 1 - inserted in the bearing area - 2 - when removing the bolt.
• The bushings cannot be replaced with workshop materials.
• If the bushings are damaged, the corresponding assembly parts must be replaced.
- Tilt the seat pan upper frame - 1 - up as far as possible.
- Support the seat pan upper frame with a suitable wood block - 6 - on the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) - item 2 -.
- Remove bolts - 3 - (quantity: 2).
- Remove the bracket - 5 - with the height adjustment motor - 4 - from the seat pan.
- Remove the bolts - 1 -.
- Separate the bracket - 2 - and the height adjustment motor - 3 -.
Installation
• Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components ] Description and Operation.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Always clean the threaded holes for the self-locking bolts, for example, using a thread tap.
- Replace all self-locking bolts.
- Tighten the adjusting spindle - 1 - for the inclination motor (preset by the manufacturer) with the bolt - 2 -.
- Do not damage bushing - 1 - when inserting the bolt.
If tension is not released when loosening or tightening the threaded connection between the adjusting spindle and the seat pan, the threaded hole in the seat pan will be damaged or destroyed.
- Do not damage the bushing - 3 - when inserting the bolt - 2 -.
• The bushings cannot be replaced with workshop materials.
• If the bushings are damaged, the corresponding assembly parts must be replaced.
Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.
• If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
