Removing

- On vehicles with automatic transmission, place selector lever in position S.

- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Remove the cimatronic control module (J255).

- Remove gap cover above ashtray - arrow -.





- Open front ashtray.

- Remove the front ashtray insert.

- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.





- Release ashtray - 3 - using a screwdriver - arrow -, attach screwdriver at opening - 4 - to do so.

- Remove housing of front ashtray.

- Disconnect connector.

- Release retaining wedge - 2 - in direction of - arrow - and remove ashtray illumination - 1 - toward rear.





Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Slide ashtray illumination into mount until retaining wedge engages.

- Install the climatronic control module.
