Work Procedure, Vehicle Alignment, Overview
• Vehicle must only be measured at curb weight. Refer to => [ Wheel Alignment Test Prerequisites ] Wheel Alignment Test Prerequisites
• Check which suspension is installed in the vehicle. This information can be found on the vehicle data plate. Refer to => [ Production Control Number (PR Number), Explanations ] Application and ID.
• Exception: Measurement of toe-in curve according to instructions from measuring program.
Observe the following work sequence!
1 On vehicles with air suspension, check axle alignment control position. Refer to => [ Axle Alignment Control Position, with Air Spring Suspension, Checking ] Axle Alignment Control Position, with Air Spring Suspension, Checking.
2 If necessary, check steering rack center position. Refer to => [ Rack, Checking Mechanical Center Position ] Rack, Checking Mechanical Center Position.
3 Perform wheel run-out compensation. Refer to => [ Rim Run-Out Compensation ] Rim Run-Out Compensation.
4 Check front axle camber and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Front Axle Camber, Checking and Adjusting ] Front Axle Camber, Checking and Adjusting.
5 Check rear axle camber and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Rear Axle Camber, Adjusting ] Rear Axle Camber, Adjusting.
6 Check rear axle toe and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Rear Axle Toe, Adjusting ] Rear Axle Toe, Adjusting.
7 If necessary, check toe-in curve behavior at front axle. Whether and when the toe-in curve/toe constant "S" must be adjusted is described in the table. Refer to => [ Wheel Alignment ] Wheel Alignment and => [ Front Axle Toe, Adjusting ] Front Axle Toe, Adjusting.
8 Check toe in initial position at front axle and adjust if necessary. Refer to => [ Front Axle Toe, Adjusting ] Front Axle Toe, Adjusting.
9 If adjustments have been made on the suspension, perform a zero adjustment on the steering angle sensor (G85) using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051 B).
10 If adjustments have been made on the rear axle, ACC adjustment is required. Refer to => [ Adjustment Procedure Using ACC Setting Device VAS 6190 ] Adjustment Procedure Using ACC Setting Device VAS 6190 or => [ Adjustment Procedure Using ACC Setting Device VAS 6430 ] Adjustment Procedure Using ACC Setting Device VAS 6430.
11 If the rear axle adjustments have been changed, then is it necessary to calibrate the lane assist. Refer to => [ Lane Assist Calibration Procedure ] Lane Assist Calibration Procedure.
