Refrigerant Lines at A/C Unit

Refrigerant Lines at A/C Unit

Removing

- Switch off ignition.

- Drain the refrigerant circuit.

- Remove the plenum chamber cover.

DANGER!
Even when the engine is cold, both pump/valve unit valves can be hot.

- Remove the windshield wiper arm, cowl panel trim, and complete windshield wiper

- If necessary, remove the dome brace (not present in all vehicles).

- Remove the air intake unit (not necessary on vehicles with right-hand steering) => [ Air Intake Unit ] Air Intake Unit.

- Remove bolt - A -.

- Disconnect refrigerant lines - B - and - C - from the connecting flange to the A/C unit, and seal open connections.

If refrigerant lines - B - and - C - cannot be disconnected, the refrigerant line through the grommet - G - has to be released.

To close the open connection at the refrigerant line connection flange to the A/C unit and refrigerant lines - B - and - C - (to prevent dirt and moisture from entering).

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:

- Check the grommet - F - for damage.

- Replace O-rings seals - D - and - E -.

Coat O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil before installing => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-Ring Seals ] Refrigerant Circuit O-Ring Seals.

- Check the guide ring - H - on the connections for both refrigerant lines - B - and - C - for damage.

- Insert the respective O-ring seal (- D - and - E -) in the groove - J - on the connections for both refrigerant lines - B - and - C -.

- Connect refrigerant lines - B - and - C -, ensuring they are free of tension.

- Install screw - A -.

Tightening specification: 20 Nm.

- Following attachment, check routing of refrigerant pipes. They must be inserted in holders provided and not make contact with other components.

- Check the grommet - F - for proper installation.

- After securing the refrigerant lines, check the line feedthrough - G - and the position of refrigerant lines - B - and - C -. They may not come in contact with other components.

- Clean coolant residue from the plenum chamber.

- Install the air intake unit => [ Air Intake Unit ] Air Intake Unit.

- Re-install remaining components removed.

- Evacuate refrigerant circuit and refill it.

- Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head and erase any faults displayed if necessary.

- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit => [ A/C System, Operating after Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] A/C System, Operating after Filling Refrigerant Circuit
