Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Condenser and Connecting
Refrigerant Lines, Disconnecting from Condenser and Connecting
• Different versions of the condenser are available depending on the vehicle version.
• In contrast to vehicles with other engines, vehicles with the 10-cyl. TFSI engine (Audi RS6) have a condenser with a smaller interior volume installed. For this reason, the refrigerant fill volume is slightly less in a 10-cyl. TFSI engine than in other engines.
Remove the refrigerant lines
- Discharge refrigerant circuit.
- Remove the front bumper and bumper cover.
Depending of the version of the vehicle, remove the following components:
- Remove the bumper cover holder - A - and air duct - C - (unnecessary e.g. for the Audi RS6)
- Remove the screw at the left air duct - arrow in the figure to the right - (e.g. for Audi RS6).
- Push the left air duct to the side (e.g. for Audi RS6).
Continuation of work for all vehicles:
- Remove bolts - A -.
- Disconnect refrigerant lines - B - and - C - from condenser.
• Seal open pipes and connections at condenser with suitable caps (to prevent dirt and moisture from entering).
Install the refrigerant lines
Installation is carried out in the reverse order, when doing this note the following:
- Replace O-ring seals - D - and - E -.
- Check the guide ring - H - on the connections for both refrigerant lines - B - and - C - for damage.
- Insert the respective O-ring seal (- D - and - E -) in the groove - J - on the connections for both refrigerant lines - B - and - C -.
- Check the fitting pin - F - (not installed on all connections) and connection - E - for damage and proper seating.
• Coat O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil before installing. Refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-Ring Seals ] Refrigerant Circuit O-Ring Seals.
• Make sure the O-ring seals - D - (different versions) are seated correctly in the groove - arrow - on the respective refrigerant line.
• Following attachment, check routing of refrigerant lines on condenser. They must be inserted in holders provided and not make contact with other components.
- Tighten the bolts - A -.
• Tightening specification: 10 Nm.
- Following attachment, check routing of refrigerant pipes. They must be inserted in holders provided and not make contact with other components.
- Install the front bumper and bumper cover and all other components that were removed.
- Evacuate and re-charge refrigerant circuit.
- Check the DTC memory for the Climatronic Control Module (J255) A/C control head and erase any faults displayed if necessary.
- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Refer to => [ A/C System, Operating after Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] A/C System, Operating after Filling Refrigerant Circuit
