Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) (G39) in Front of Bank 1 Right Catalytic Converter

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Ring Spanner 7-Piece Set (3337)

Removing

- Remove the rear engine cover - top arrows -.






- Remove the air filter housing upper section. Refer to => [ Air Filter ] Air Filter.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 1 - for the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) and free up the wire.






• Ignore - 2 -.

- Remove the oxygen sensor - 2 - with the wrench (3337/7).






Installing

• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Component Locations Overview ] Component Locations Overview.

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

• New oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste; the paste must not get into slots of oxygen sensor body.

• For a used oxygen sensor, only coat threads with hot bolt paste. This paste must not come into contact with oxygen sensor slots.

• Wiring connection of oxygen sensor must always be secured in the same position when installing so that contact with the exhaust pipe is avoided.
