Oil Pump: Service and Repair






Oil Pump

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Used Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)

Removing

The transmission is removed.

- Remove the spur gear unit. Refer to => [ Spur Gear Unit ] Spur Gear Unit.

- Remove the coolant pump. Refer to => [ Coolant Pump ] Coolant Pump.

- Remove the lower oil pan section. Refer to => [ Oil Pan Lower Section ] Oil Pan Lower Section.

- Remove the coolant pump input shaft - arrow - from the oil pump.






- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the engine and leave it there for the following steps.

- Remove the bolt - arrow - and remove the intake tube.






Oil escapes when removing oil pipes.

- Remove the bolts - 1 through 5 - and remove the oil pipes and cover plate.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the oil pump.






Installing

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Oil Pump and Lower Section of Oil Pan Overview ] Oil Pump and Lower Section of Oil Pan Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Replace the seals and O-rings.

Replace bolts which have been tightened to an additional torque.

- Install oil pan lower section. Refer to => [ Oil Pan Lower Section ] Oil Pan Lower Section.

- Install the coolant pump. Refer to => [ Coolant Pump ] Coolant Pump.

- Install the spur gear unit. Refer to => [ Spur Gear Unit ] Spur Gear Unit.

- Fill engine oil and check oil level.

- Fill the coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.
