Vehicle Rear and Luggage Compartment Components
Vehicle Rear and Luggage Compartment Components
1 Comfort System Central Control Module (J393)
• The activation of different vehicle systems (for example the rear window defogger (Z1) , the windshield defogger (Z2) , etc.) and the evaluation of signals from other components (for example the signal from the humidity sensor (G355) ) are performed via the Comfort System Central Control Module.
2 Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface (J533)
• Via the Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface, the Climatronic control module (J255) exchanges information on the data bus with other control modules (for example with the comfort system central control module (J393) , the vehicle electrical system control module (J519) , etc.).
3 Heated Rear Window (Z1)
• The request to activate the rear window defogger is sent from the Climatronic control module (J255) , via the data bus to the comfort system central control module (J393). The activation of the rear window defogger is performed via the comfort system central control module.
• Notes on function of heated rear window, refer to => [ Heated Rear Window, Checking ] Heated Rear Window, Checking.
4 Parking Heater Radio Receiver (R64)
• Only in vehicles with the parking heater optional equipment.
• As soon as an activation signal is detected by the hand-held transmitter of the auxiliary heater radio receiver/remote control, the auxiliary heater control module (J364) queries the Climatronic control module (J255). The Climatronic control module then decides whether parking heater operation is necessary to reach the set temperatures or parking ventilation operation is sufficient.
5 Heated Windshield Control Module (J505)
• Only in vehicles with this optional equipment
• For information regarding the Heated windshield control module and activation of the windshield defogger (Z2) => [ Heated Windshield, Checking Activation ] Heated Windshield, Checking Activation and => [ Windshield Defogger ] Windshield Defogger.
• Remove and install the windshield defogger control module.
6 Vent Slots In The Luggage Compartment Trim
• In order for the passenger compartment ventilation to function properly, the air ducts that run through the luggage compartment trim must be unobstructed.
• Checking, removing and installing, refer to => [ Passenger Compartment Forced Air Extraction, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.
7 Forced Air Extraction From The Luggage Compartment
• View from the inside with the luggage compartment trim removed on the left and right.
• A forced air extraction vent is installed at left and right under rear bumper.
• Sealing doors on air extraction vent must be able to move freely and close automatically.
• In order for the passenger compartment ventilation to function properly, the air ducts that run through the luggage compartment trim must be unobstructed.
• Checking, removing and installing, refer to => [ Passenger Compartment Forced Air Extraction, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.
