Front Evaporator Housing






Front Evaporator Housing

The evaporator is currently not available as a replacement part for all versions, therefore check in advance, whether this evaporator is available as a replacement evaporator. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA). If the evaporator is not available as a replacement evaporator, the A/C unit must be removed. Refer to => [ Front Heating and A/C Unit ] Front Heating and A/C Unitand the evaporator housing with the series evaporator must be replaced entirely.

The evaporator is not available as a separate component or should for other reasons be replaced with the evaporator housing. Refer to => [ Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed ] Front Evaporator With A/C Unit Installed and the Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

Removing






- Remove the front A/C unit, refer to => [ Front Heating and A/C Unit ] Front Heating and A/C Unit.

- Remove the bolt - 4 -.

- Open the tabs - arrows - and remove the mount - 3 - for the coolant pipe.

- Remove the bolts to remove the clamps - 5, 7 -.

- Open the plastic hose clamp. Refer to => [ Heater Core With Front A/C Unit Installed ] Heater Core With Front A/C Unit Installed.

- Remove the coolant pipes - 1, 2 - from the heater core - 6 -.

- Remove the bolts - 2, 3 -.






- Open the tabs - arrows - and remove the evaporator housing - 1 - from the air distribution housing - 4 -.

Installing






Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:

- Check the heater core connection- 3 - and the coolant pipe - 2 - for damage or debris.

- Clean the sealing surface for the O-ring and glaze it.

- Lightly moisten a new O-ring seal - 4 - with coolant (or lightly with silicone grease) and attach the coolant pipe - 1 -.

- Slide the coolant pipe all the way into the heater core.

Risk of leaks from the heater core.

Squeezed O-ring seals, sharp-edged or coolant pipes that have not been inserted completely may lead to leaks.

- Attach new screw-type clamps - B - to the coolant pipe/ heater core connection and tighten the bolt, refer to => [ Heater Core With Front A/C Unit Installed ] Heater Core With Front A/C Unit Installed.

- Check clamps for proper seating on the connections of the heater core and the coolant pipes. They must not be touching the air distribution housing or any other components.

- Install the front A/C unit, refer to => [ Front Heating and A/C Unit ] Front Heating and A/C Unit.
