Engine Control Module
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pry Lever - Rmv Outside Mirror (80 - 200)
Removing
- Select replace engine control module under guided functions in the vehicle diagnosis tester if the engine control module is being replaced.
- Turn the ignition and remove the ignition key.
- Remove the windshield wiper arms.
The plenum chamber cover could be damaged.
• Coat the bond between the windshield and the plenum chamber cover with soapy water.
- Remove the seal - 1 - near the plenum chamber cover.
- Carefully remove the plenum chamber cover - 2 - starting upward starting at the edge of the window - arrows -.
- Lift the center of the plenum chamber cover out of the guides on the sides - 4 - and remove out the plenum chamber cover - 3 -.
- Release the retainers - arrows - and free up the left and right wiring harness on the plenum chamber bulkhead.
- Remove the electrical connector - 1 - from the bracket and disconnect it.
- Free up the wiring harness on the tower brace using the (80 - 200).
- Remove the bolts - 1, 2 and 3 - and - arrows - and remove the tower brace.
- Open the clamps - arrows - and remove the engine control module (J623) - 2 -.
• Ignore - 1, 3 and 4 -.
- Disengage the connectors from the engine control module (J623) and disconnect the connector.
- Remove the used engine control module and connect the new engine control module.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
- Install the tower brace.
- Clip the cowl panel trim into the retainers on the windshield.
- Install the wiper arms.
