Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Straight sander (VAS 5170)
• Pop rivet pliers (VAS 5072)
• Air pressure adhesive pistol (V.A.G 2005 B)
• Body repair saw (V.A.G 1523A)
• Gas-shielded welder 250A
• Rechargeable Riveter (VAS 5279A)

Separating areas
CAUTION!
Be careful not to damage cast joints and assembly sections when separating them.
- Loosen the original joint with an (VAS 5279A).
- Cut the fender flange out roughly using the (V.A.G 1523A).
- Remove the part.
- Loosen the original joint on the inside of the fender flange with an (VAS 5279A).
- Loosen the flow drill bolt connection - a - using the (VAS 6426 or 6426/1).
- Remove any remaining pieces still in the cast joint using the (VAS 5167).

• Outer fender flange
• Inner fender flange
Preparing New Parts
Preparing the surfaces for applying adhesive
- Prepare flange on body and new part for welding.
- Prepare the body and the top and the bottom of the fender flange for riveting.
- Clean the surfaces with silicone remover (LSE 020 100 A3).
- Prepare and clean the adhesion area silicate stone (DA 009 800).
- Apply aluminum primer (DA 009 801) to the surface using the applicator (D 009 500 25).
Apply 2K body adhesive (DA 180 A00 A1) over the area to being riveted using the (V.A.G 2005 B).
Riveting
- Install new part using straightening bracket.
- Rivet the bottom of the fender flange to the cast joint on the suspension strut tower mount using (VAS 5279A).
- Rivet the inner fender flange to the outer fender flange using a (VAS 5279A).
- Rivet the blind rivet connection with (VAS 5072).
