Removing Components From Rear Heating and A/C Unit

Removing Components From Rear Heating and A/C Unit

Interchange of the wire connections to the temperature sensors or the connectors at the control motors results in problems regarding the regulation of the A/C system.

Interchanged connectors at the control motors or the temperature sensors are not identified as malfunctions by the rear A/C display control head (E265).

Prior to disconnecting connectors or removing electrical components, clearly label them in order to rule out confusion.

Remove the rear A/C unit, refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

1 Wiring Harness Of Rear Heating & A/C Unit

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Left Rear Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor (G635) ] Left Rear Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor (G635).

Check the left rear upper body vent temperature sensor (G635) using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

4 Right Rear Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor (G638)

To rule out confusion, clearly label the wire routing and allocation to each installation location prior to disconnecting the connector or removing a temperature sensor.

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Right Rear Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor (G638) ] Right Rear Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor (G638).

Check the right rear footwell vent temperature sensor (G638) using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

5 Right Rear Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor (G636)

To rule out confusion, clearly label the wire routing and allocation to each installation location prior to disconnecting the connector or removing a temperature sensor.

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Right Rear Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor (G636) ] Right Rear Upper Body Vent Temperature Sensor (G636).

Check the right rear upper body vent temperature sensor (G636) using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.

6 Rear Heating and A/C Unit

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

Refer to => [ Disassembly Of Rear A/C Unit ] Disassembly Of Rear A/C Unit.

7 Cam Disk

Mark before removing (risk of interchange).

Removed during removal of the A/C unit (so that the heater core can be removed), refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

8 Coupling Rod

Mark before removing (risk of interchange).

Removed during removal of the A/C unit (so that the heater core can be removed), refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

9 Right Rear Temperature Door Motor (V314)

Removal and installation, refer to => [ Right Rear Temperature Door Motor (V314) ] Right Rear Temperature Door Motor (V314).

To rule out confusion, clearly label the wire routing, allocation and control motor for each installation location prior to disconnecting the connector or removing a control motor.

10 Screw

11 Rear Heater Core

Remove and install, replace (with the A/C unit installed), refer to => [ Rear Heater Core ] Rear Heater Core.

The rear heater core remains in the vehicle when removing the rear A/C unit (so that the coolant circuit does not need to be opened), refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

Bonded foam seal, check before installing, refer to => [ Rear Heater Core ] Rear Heater Core.

12 O-ring Seal

Replace. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

Lubricate lightly with coolant before installation.

13 Remove The Screw Clamp (Metal Clamp)

Bolt tightening specification of 2 Nm

Currently installed. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog.

14 Plastic Clamp

Currently not installed (implementation not yet finalized, the screw clamp is currently always installed - item 13 => [ (Item 13) Remove The Screw Clamp (Metal Clamp) ] ) => [ Rear Heater Core ] Rear Heater Core and Electronic Parts Catalog.

15 Refrigerant Line Return Hose

Incorporation of A/C system into cooling circuit, refer to => [ Incorporation of A/C System in Coolant Circuit ] Incorporation of A/C System in Coolant Circuit.

The coolant lines and the rear heater core remain in the vehicle when removing the rear A/C unit (so that the coolant circuit does not need to be opened), refer to => [ Rear Heating and A/C Unit ] Rear Heating and A/C Unit.

These coolant lines are connected to the coolant circuit via coolant hoses running in the center tunnel, refer to => [ Incorporation Of Rear Heating & A/C Unit Into Cooling and Refrigerant Circuit ] Incorporation Of Rear Heating & A/C Unit Into Cooling And Refrigerant Circuit.

For these coolant lines to be removed, the rear A/C unit and the heat shield in the center tunnel must be removed.

For these coolant lines to be removed with the rear A/C unit installed, the air duct to the rear fresh air blower (V80) => [ Rear Fresh Air Blower (V80) ] Description and Operation and the heat shield in the center tunnel must be removed..
