Fuel Tank, Draining
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Fuel Extraction Device (VAS 5190)
• Adapter for Fuel Extraction (VAS 5190 /1)
• Adapter Set for Fuel Extraction (VAS 5190 /10)
• Scissors
• If the (VAS 5190) has a suction hose with a mounted tip, then replace this with one that has a tip which screws on.
- Remove the tip - 1 - from the fuel extraction unit suction hose (VAS 5190).
- Connect the (VAS 5190 /1) from the (VAS 5190 /10) on the suction hose.
Procedure
- Follow all safety precautions. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.
- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
- Move the right front seat all the way forward.
Danger of causing damage to other electronic components when disconnecting the battery.
• Complete the steps for disconnecting the battery.
- Remove the rear bench seat or the lower seat frame/rear seat backrest.
- Disconnect the Ground (GND) cable - 2 - from the battery.
Risk of explosion due to electrostatic charge.
• Secure the (VAS 5190) GND wire to a bare area of the chassis.
- Cut the insulation mat near the locking flange cover along the perforation with scissors and fold it to the side.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and remove the locking flange cover - 1 -.
There is a risk of injury because the fuel is under high pressure.
• To reduce pressure in fuel system, lay a clean cloth around the connector and carefully loosen the connector.
- Disconnect the fuel line - 1 - at the locking flange by pressing the release button.
- Connect the suction hose with the (VAS 5190 /1) to the locking flange supply connection.
- Drain the fuel tank through the locking flange supply connection using the (VAS 5190).
- Install the right locking flange cover. Refer to => [ Locking Flange Cover - Tightening Specifications ] Fuel Delivery Unit Overview.
