Front Seat Ventilation Control Module (J799)/(J800)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Removal Wedge (3409)
• Seat Repair Stand (VAS6136)
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Switch the ignition on.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.
- Remove the front seat. Refer to=> [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.
- Attach the front seat to the (VAS 6136). Refer to=> [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Stand ] Overhaul.
- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from front seat ventilation control module (J799) / (J800) - item 1 - by pressing the release - arrow -.
- Release the retaining strap - arrow 1 - using the (3409).
- Remove the control module from the bracket - arrow 2 -.
- Release the tab on the control module - arrow 3 - on the mount.
- Remove the control module.
Installation
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
• Make sure the control module audibly engages into the bracket.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
