Seat Cover and Cushion, Passenger Folding Seat
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Front-End Hook (3370)
• Seat Repair Stand (VAS6136)
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove the passenger folding seat. Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.
- Attach front folding seat to (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Stand ] Overhaul.
- Remove the sill side trim retaining bracket. Refer to => [ Retaining Bracket Trim, Sill Side ] Retaining Bracket Trim, Sill Side.
- Remove tunnel side trim panel. Refer to => [ Trim, Tunnel Side ] Trim, Tunnel Side.
- Vehicles with drawer: remove the drawer. Refer to => [ Drawer Mount ] Drawer Mount.
- Vehicles with LATCH child seat anchorages, remove the LATCH child seat anchorages. Refer to => [ Anchorage, Front Seat ] Anchorage, Front Seat.
- Disconnect the lower left and right rubber straps - 1 - an the seat pan.
- Disengage the cover clamping strip - 1 - using the (3370) on the front and on the sides - arrow -.
- Disengage the retaining strip- 2 - on the cover at the back using the (3370).
- Remove the cover with upholstery from the seat pan.
Installation
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.
• Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:
- Make sure the retaining strips engage correctly and the cover is not wrinkled.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
