Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 24 number 11 - 71 dated May 17, 2011 for reasons listed below.





Affected Vehicles





Condition
Sporadically at first start of day while stationary:

^ Engine idles below 500 RPM.

^ Electronic Power Control (EPC) warning/indicator light may be illuminated, but no DTC is stored.





^ Engine idle returns to normal and the EPC warning/indicator light is no longer illuminated after accelerator is depressed.

This issue is caused by engine control module software

Production Solution

SVM Update Instructions

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.





2. Update the engine control module (J623) using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.

3. Replace the crankcase breather valve with P/N: 06H 103 495J.

4. Replace the front crankshaft seal with P/N: 06L 103 085B per Elsa >> Engine Mechanical >> 15 Cylinder Head, Valvetrain >> Removal and Installation >> Vibration Damper Shaft Seal.

5. For the repair to be completed all the above steps are necessary, the SVM update being first.

The Audi Technical Assistance Centers instructions determine which parts are required for the repair.

^ Destroy and properly dispose of removed parts in accordance with local, state, and federal/provincial environmental regulations.

^ VAS Tester required.
