Condition
The auto-blink feature is inoperative; however, the turn signals function normally.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
The auto-blink feature was not activated when the comfort control unit, J393, was programmed.
This feature triggers the turn signals to blink three times after moving the turn signal lever (up or down) to the point of resistance and then immediately releasing it. This feature is used when changing lanes on the highway.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Comfort control unit correctly adapted to include auto-blink feature.
SERVICE
With scan tool 505X, select guided functions and follow directions below to activate the auto-blink feature in the comfort control unit J393 (address code 46) for all remote keys in adaptation channels 1 - 4.
1. Select 46-comfort control unit and forward arrow.
2. Select adaptation and forward arrow.
3. Select option 1 to adapt remote keys.
4. Select option 2 to adapt remote key number 1.
5. Select done.
6. Select yes to change adaptation value. Note that the highway blinking active (auto-blink) is set to 0. This value will change to a 1 when the feature is selected during the adaptation process. Write down the other features that have a value of 1 so that they may be re-selected during the adaptation process in step 7.
7. Select option 1 to manually adapt remote key number 1 and follow the procedures to select the desired features that were noted from step 6.
8. When finished with the feature selection, select yes to finalize the adaptation procedure.
9. Select yes to store the new value in the comfort control unit.
10. Select done.
11. Select yes to return to the menu to perform the same adaptations for remote keys 2, 3 and 4.
