Final Drive, Differential (0BKA Automatic Transmission)
Gear Oil in Front Final Drive, Filling after Repair
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
• Hand Pump for Transmission Filling (VAS 6617)
• Protective goggles
Draining
• The engine is off.
• Move the vehicle onto a 4-column shop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
• Transmission fluid temperature: approximately 20 °C (68 °F) (room temperature).
• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Gear Oil Drain and Inspection Plugs Overview ] Gear Oil Drain and Inspection Plugs Overview.
• General repair instructions, refer to => [ Repair Information ] Repair Information.
• Clean working conditions for the automatic transmission. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
• Follow the disposal requirements.
• Replace the ATF drain plug and seal.
• Replace the plug for the ATF check and fill hole.
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.
Danger of eye injury.
• Wear protective goggles.
- Remove the drain plug - arrow B - from the front final drive and drain the transmission fluid.
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.
• Do not start the engine if there is no transmission oil in the front final drive.
- Install the new drain plug - arrow B -.
Filling
• Transmission fluid temperature: approximately 20 °C (68 °F) (room temperature).
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Gear Oil Drain and Inspection Plugs Overview ] Gear Oil Drain and Inspection Plugs Overview.
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.
Danger of eye injury.
• Wear protective goggles.
- Remove the drain plug - arrow A - from the front final drive.
- Install the adapter (VAS 6617/6) and the adapter (VAS 6617/2) into the transmission hand-tight.
- Connect the (VAS 6617) and fill the front final drive with approximately 0.9 liters of gear oil.
• For the correct transmission fluid, refer to the electronic parts catalog ETKA.
- Wait 5 minutes.
• A filling time of at least 5 minutes is required so that the internal oil level between the differential and oil fill space can equalize.
- Remove the (VAS 6617/6) from the transmission and let any extra oil drain out.
• Specified value: The oil level is correct when the front final drive is filled to the lower edge of the filler opening. Fill the gear oil once more if necessary.
- Tighten the new drain plug - arrow A - for the front final drive.
• It is not necessary to check the oil level again at this stage.
