Seat Repair Stand (VAS6136)

Removing


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Switch the ignition on.

- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

- Remove the front seat:

Standard seat and Sport seat (manually adjustable) as well as front folding seat - passenger seat. Refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.

Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.

- Attach the front seat to the (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Stand ] Overhaul.

- Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.

- Remove the headrests. Refer to => [ Headrests with Locking Mechanism ] Headrests With Locking Mechanism.

- Remove the backrest cover and cushion:

Standard seat and Sport seat (manual or power) and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Cushion ] Backrest Cover and Cushion.

Front Folding Seat, Passenger Seat. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Cushion, Passenger Folding Seat ] Backrest Cover and Cushion, Passenger Folding Seat.

Headrest Guide Without Release Button






- Press the retaining tabs - arrows - on the headrest guide - 1 - toward the center of the headrest guide.

- Hold the retaining tabs down.

- Pull the headrest guide up out of the backrest frame - 2 -.

Headrest Guide With Release Button






- Press the retaining tabs - arrows - on the headrest guide - 1 - toward the center of the headrest guide.

- Hold the retaining tabs down.

- Pull the headrest guide up out of the backrest frame - 2 -.

Installation

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

When sliding the headrest guide - 1 - in, make sure the tab - 3 - engages correctly on the backrest frame - 2 -.

Ensure retaining tabs - arrows - are engaged in the backrest frame correctly.

Headrest Guide With Release Button






When sliding the headrest guide - 1 - in, make sure the tab - 3 - engages correctly on the backrest frame - 2 -.

Ensure retaining tabs - arrows - are engaged in the backrest frame correctly.

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
