Removal Wedge (3409)

Seat Repair Stand (VAS6136)

The wires between the seat pan and the connector station are inside a double-shell corrugated tube in the so-called modulate wiring routing.

Opening Corrugated Pipe and Removing Individual Wire

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat:

Standard seat and Sport seat (manually adjustable) as well as front folding seat - passenger seat, refer to => [ Manual Standard Front Seat ] Manual Standard Front Seat.

Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.

- Attach the front seat to the (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Seat Repair Stand ] Overhaul.

- Open the wiring bracket - 1 - using the (3409).

- Remove the wiring bracket from the corrugated pipe - 2 -.

- Open the corrugated tube and replace the faulty wire or the side air bag.

Install Individual Wires and Close Corrugated Pipe

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

- When bundling and placing individual wires in the corrugated tube, make sure the wires are not twisted.

Note the installation position of the two-part corrugated tube to the wiring harness and the position of the wiring bracket to the corrugated tube.

- The beginning of the corrugated tube - 4 - should be placed immediately after the clip - 2 - or cable tie around the wiring harness - 3 -.

- Make sure the two-part corrugated tube locks cleanly over entire length.

- After connecting both halves of the corrugated pipe, wiring bracket - 1 - should be positioned and clipped into place according to the illustration.

- Make sure the side - arrow A - of the cable bracket connects to the last rib - arrow B - on the corrugated pipe.

- Install the cable ties, wiring bracket and clips in the same positions as before removal.

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
