Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motors (V48)/(V49)
• The headlamp housing must be cut at the designated location with a sharp box cutter to replace the adjustment motor.
• A housing cover can be ordered to seal the assembly opening. Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Protective gloves
• Protective eyewear
• Box cutter
Removing
Danger to life due to high voltage.
• Always disconnect the battery wire strap before working on gas-discharge headlamp components marked with yellow high-voltage symbols.
There is a risk of injury and damage.
• Wear protective gloves and eyewear.
• To avoid damaged electrical wires in the headlamp housing, do not cut too deep.
- Remove headlamp housings. Refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
- Cut the cover - 5 - out of the headlamp housing with a sharp box cutter.
- Open the retainer - 2 -.
- Move the housing cover - 1 - to the side and remove it.
- Turn the headlamp range control positioning motor - 4 -.
• Left headlamp: counterclockwise.
• Right headlamp: clockwise.
- Push the ball end of the positioning stem upward and out of the ball end mount by swiveling the control motor.
- Remove the control motor.
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 3 -.
Installing
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Bi-Xenon Headlamps with Cornering Light Overview ] Bi-Xenon Headlamps With Cornering Light Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Connect the electrical connector when guiding in.
- Start by inserting ball end of positioning stem from underneath in reflector socket. To do so, pull reflector to rear.
- Position and lock the headlamp range control motor bayonet connection on the headlamp housing.
• Left headlamp: clockwise.
• Right headlamp: counterclockwise.
- Close the opening in the headlamp with the housing cover - 1 - from the repair set. Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
- Tighten the bolts - arrows -.
- Install the headlamp housing. Refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
