Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting


Accident risk.

When working on pyrotechnic components (such as airbags and belt tensioners), the battery must be disconnected with the ignition switched on. Refer to Removal and Installation.

Disconnecting






- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Remove the luggage compartment floor - 3 -.

- Remove the dirt tray, if applicable.

- Remove the bass box - 2 - if applicable.

- Fold back the carpet - 1 - over the flap.

- Unlock the retaining tabs - arrows - and open the cover - 1 -.






- Open the cover - 1 - over the battery negative "-" terminal.






- Loosen the nut on the clamp several turns and remove the ground cable - arrow - from the battery terminal.

Connecting






Tightening specification, refer to => [ Battery Overview ] Battery Overview.

- Disconnect the connector - 3 - on the battery monitoring control module (J367) - 1 -.

- Connect the ground wire terminal clamp, by hand, to battery negative - terminal and tighten the nut - 1 -.

- Connect the electrical connector on the battery monitoring control module (J367).

When the battery is connected, the following steps must be performed:

Activate the power window regulator one-touch up/down function.

Check DTC memories of all control modules and erase the "undervoltage" DTC if necessary, using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

After connecting the power supply, the ABS warning lamp may only go out after the vehicle has been driven a few yards.

- Install the bass box, if applicable.
