Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting
Accident risk.
• When working on pyrotechnic components (such as airbags and belt tensioners), the battery must be disconnected with the ignition switched on. Refer to Removal and Installation.
Disconnecting
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Remove the luggage compartment floor - 3 -.
- Remove the dirt tray, if applicable.
- Remove the bass box - 2 - if applicable.
- Fold back the carpet - 1 - over the flap.
- Unlock the retaining tabs - arrows - and open the cover - 1 -.
- Open the cover - 1 - over the battery negative "-" terminal.
- Loosen the nut on the clamp several turns and remove the ground cable - arrow - from the battery terminal.
Connecting
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Battery Overview ] Battery Overview.
- Disconnect the connector - 3 - on the battery monitoring control module (J367) - 1 -.
- Connect the ground wire terminal clamp, by hand, to battery negative - terminal and tighten the nut - 1 -.
- Connect the electrical connector on the battery monitoring control module (J367).
When the battery is connected, the following steps must be performed:
• Activate the power window regulator one-touch up/down function.
• Check DTC memories of all control modules and erase the "undervoltage" DTC if necessary, using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
• After connecting the power supply, the ABS warning lamp may only go out after the vehicle has been driven a few yards.
- Install the bass box, if applicable.
