AFFECTED VEHICLES

CONDITION

Workshop findings:

After reading the fault memory with Guided Fault Finding, the following DTCS may be stored:

1. P1703 - Emergency operation gearbox reset control unit (in diagnosis address 02 - gearbox)

2. U1111 - Restricted function because of missing message (in diagnosis address 81 - gear lever)

Tip: There is no customer complaint with this concern.

TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

If the memory is read with Guided Fault Finding or if Immobilizer test plans are performed, the above DTC entries may be stored. This is due to a communication error between VAS tester and transmission control unit. (This happens particularly with tester VAS 5051B)

PRODUCTION SOLUTION

New software in the Transmission Control Module (J217) addressed the condition
