April 24, 2012.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 74 number 12 - 07 dated April 5, 2012 for reasons listed below.

Affected Vehicles

Condition
The customer may complain that the seat heating temperature is too low, or takes too long to heat up.

Technical Background

From model year 2012, an additional row of fastening features were added to improve the fit of the leather seat covers on the basic and sports seats (Figure 1).

As a consequence of this change, the temperature sensor within the seat was moved to a location that is more sensitive to heat. As a result, the control limit is reached too early and the heat is reduced before the seating surface reaches the correct temperature.

Production Solution
Change in preparation.

Service

Install new software in the 09/electronic central electrics unit (BCM1) Control Module (J519) to modify the control limit for the seat heater.

SVM Update Instructions

1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.

2. Update the 09 - BCM1 - Central Electrics Control Unit (J519) using the SVM action code as listed in the table above if necessary.

3. Verify the improved system operation by activating the heated seats in the HI position (Position number 6). After 10 minutes, sit in both front seats and subjectively evaluate the temperature of the seats.
