Center Differential Housing Overview
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.
• Do not start or tow the vehicle when the center differential is removed or when the gear oil has been drained.
1 O-ring
• Replace
• Coat with transmission fluid
2 Center Differential
3 Ball Bearing
• For the center differential
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Center Differential Ball Bearing ] Center Differential Ball Bearing
4 Locking Ring
• For the flange shaft ball bearing
5 Locking Ring
• For the flange shaft
6 Ball Bearing
• For the rear flange shaft
• Removing and installing, refer to=> [ Rear Flange Shaft Ball Bearing ] Rear Flange Shaft Ball Bearing
7 Drain Plug
• 35 Nm
• Replace
• For transfer case filler opening
8 Center Differential Housing
• Removing and installing, refer to=> [ Center Differential Housing, Transmission Installed ] Center Differential Housing, Transmission Installed
9 Seal for the Rear Flange Shaft
• Replacing, refer to => [ Rear Flange Shaft Seal, Replacing ] Rear Flange Shaft Seal, Replacing
10 Rear Flange Shaft
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Rear Flange Shaft Seal, Replacing ] Rear Flange Shaft Seal, Replacing
• When replacing the rear flange shaft, also replace the seal
• Allocate the components according to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
11 Bolt
• Replace
• Tightening specifications and sequence, refer to => [ Center Differential Housing - Tightening Specifications and Sequence ]
Center Differential Housing - Tightening Specifications and Sequence
- Tighten the center differential housing bolts in three steps as follows:
- Tighten the bolts - 1 and 2 - to 3 Nm.
- Tighten the bolts to 8 Nm in the following sequence: - 1 to 6 -.
- Tighten the bolt in the following sequence: - 1 through 6 - plus 90° additional turn.
