Brake Caliper, Replacing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1576)
• Brake pedal actuator (V.A.G 1869/2)
Removing
- Remove wheels.
- Connect bleeder hose of bleeder bottle to bleeder valve of brake caliper and then open bleeder valve.
- Insert (V.A.G 1869/2).
- Close bleeder valve and remove bleeder bottle.
- Disconnect the brake line from the brake caliper.
- Remove brake pads. Refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.
- Remove the brake caliper from the vehicle.
Installing
- Install brake pads. Refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.
- Clean the bolt ribbing.
- Replace damaged bolts.
- Tighten the brake caliper bolts to 180 Nm
- Install brake line on brake caliper.
- Press the brake hose into the mount on the stub axle carrier.
- Connect the brake pad wear display connector - 1 -.
- Secure the brake pad wear indicator connector.
- Install the cable for the brake pad wear display into the spring in the brake caliper.
- If necessary, close the cable clip on the spring.
• The cable for the brake pad wear display may not lay open.
- Install wheels.
- Remove (V.A.G 1869/2).
- Bleed brake system. Refer to => [ Brake System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair
• Before moving vehicle, depress brake pedal several times firmly to properly seat brake pads in their normal operating position.
• Check brake fluid level.
