Notes For Vehicles With Parking/Auxiliary Heater (With Poor Heating Performance)

Notes For Vehicles With Parking/Auxiliary Heater (With Poor Heating Performance)

If a customer complains that their gasoline vehicle without an auxiliary heater has poor heating, check the heating performance of the A/C system as well as the function of the coolant pump (V50) (as well as on vehicles with a 6 cylinder FSI engine coolant pump (V36) ). Refer to => [ Heating Performance Of A/C System, Checking ] Heating Performance Of A/C System, Checking and Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function.

If poor or insufficient heating performance (for example, at low engine speeds) is reported on gasoline or diesel vehicles with a parking/auxiliary heater installed as optional equipment, check activation of Coolant Pump (V50) (also Coolant Pump (V36) on vehicles with 6 cylinder FSI engine), Heater coolant shut-off valve (N279) , incorporation of parking/auxiliary heater into coolant circuit and function of parking/auxiliary heater (activation of Auxiliary Heater Control Module (J364) ). Refer to Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

If there is poor and insufficient heating on vehicles with a diesel engine (with an Auxiliary Heater Heating Element (Z35) ), check the activation and the function of the auxiliary heater heating element (and the heater coolant shut-off valve (N279) for vehicles from MY 2011), refer to => [ Auxiliary Heater Heating Element, Checking ] Testing and Inspection and Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

By activation of Coolant Pump (V50) (also Coolant Pump (V36) on vehicles with 6 cylinder FSI engine), coolant flow through A/C system heater core(s) is increased at low engine speeds, achieving better heating performance.

Coolant Pump (V50) (or Coolant Pump (V36) ) is switched on by the Climatronic Control Module (J255) as soon as all switch-on conditions are met (ignition is switched on, Climatronic Control Module is switched on, OFF button not operated, etc.), refer to => [ Heating Performance Of A/C System, Checking ] Heating Performance Of A/C System, Checking.

Climatronic Control Module also switches the Coolant Pump (V50) (also Coolant Pump (V36) on vehicles with 6 cylinder FSI engine) if it receives information via Comfort CAN-Bus system from the Auxiliary Heater Control Module. Refer to Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding".

Starting with MY 2009, certain vehicles with a 6 cylinder TDI engine without an auxiliary heater, have an auxiliary air heater heating element installed depending on the emissions standard (running change depending on the engine). Refer to Audi Sales Program, => [ Auxiliary Heater Heating Element, Checking ] Testing and Inspection. Auxiliary Heater Heating Element) removing and installing, refer to => [ Auxiliary Heater Heating Element ] Service and Repair, checking, refer to => [ Auxiliary Heater Heating Element, Checking ] Testing and Inspection
