Shift Interlock: Service and Repair
Shift Lock Solenoid (N110)
Removing
- Remove the frame with the multimedia system control head (E380) - 1 -.
- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.
- Remove the noise insulation - 2 - from the shift housing.
- Remove the front ashtray/front storage compartment.
- Remove the bolts - arrows - and - 1 - from the center console bracket.
- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
• The center console bracket is not shown in the illustration.
- Tip the gearshift mechanism function unit and remove the center console bracket.
- Press and hold the parking lock button - C -.
- Move the selector lever into "S".
- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.
• When removing the magnets, lift them forward slightly so that ball head - 2 - disengages from the operating lever - 1 -.
• Shown with selector mechanism removed to provide a better illustration.
- Open the catches - arrow A - and remove the shift lock solenoid forward - arrow B -.
Installing
• Selector lever in "S".
- Unclip the guide for the emergency release lever in direction of - arrow -.
- Pull the emergency release lever - arrow - upward.
• The operating lever - 1 - for the shift lock solenoid moves into its installed position when the emergency release lever is pulled up.
- At the same time, position the shift lock solenoid into the guide at an angle.
- Push the shift lock solenoid into the guide until it clicks.
• The ball head - 2 - on the shift lock solenoid must fit into the operating lever on the selector mechanism.
- Connect the connector - 1 -.
Perform a Functionality Test on the Shift Lock Solenoid
- Connect the connector - 1 -.
- Connect the connector - 1 -.
- Before completing the assembling, check the function of the shift lock solenoid with the selector lever in "P" and "N" => [ 1. Selector Mechanism Function Test ] Selector Mechanism, Checking.
