Left Flange Shaft Seal

Identifying and allocating the rear final drive, refer to => [ Rear Final Drive 0BN, 0BP Identification ] Rear Final Drive 0BN, 0BP Identification.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Slide Hammer - Complete Set (VW 771)

Pulling Hook (VW 771/37)

Thrust Piece (T10256) for rear final drive 0BN

Thrust Piece (T10434) for rear final drive 0BP

Sealing grease (G 052 128 A1)

Removing

- Remove the rear drive axle on the left side.

- Remove the flange shaft seal using the slide hammer (VW 771/1) and the (VW 771/37).






Installing Rear Final Drive 0BN

- Coat the outer circumference of the shaft seal with gear oil.

- Force the new shaft seal on up to the stop.






Installing Rear Final Drive 0BP

- Coat the outer circumference of the shaft seal with gear oil.

- Force the new shaft seal on up to the stop.






Continuation for All

- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips halfway with sealing grease (G 052 128 A1).

- Install the left rear drive axle.

- Check the ATF level in rear final drive. Refer to => [ Axle Oil Level, Checking ] Axle Oil Level, Checking.
