Hydraulic Oil Cooler, Vehicles with Dynamic Steering

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps Up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

Hose Clamp Pliers (V.A.G 1275)

Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

Removing






- Remove the screws - 1, 2, 3 and 5 - and remove the front lock carrier cover - 4 -.

- Lift the lock carrier cover - 4 - - arrow - and disengage it from the radiator grille.

- Clamp off the hydraulic lines - 5 and 6 - with the (3094).






- Remove the clamping sleeves - 3 and 4 -.






- Disconnect the hydraulic lines - 5 and 6 - from the hydraulic oil cooler.

- Release the retaining tabs - 3 -, tilt the hydraulic oil cooler - 1 - forward slightly and remove it from the mounts - 2 - on the A/C condenser.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- The markings - 2 - on the hose line must point upward in the 12 o'clock position.






When attaching the hose lines - 1 -, counter hold on the pipe lines - 4 -.

- Top off hydraulic oil.

- Clean any oiled places.

- Bleed the steering. Refer to => [ Steering, Bleeding after Replacing ] Service and Repair.

- Check power steering fluid level. Refer to => [ Power Steering Fluid Level, Checking ] Power Steering Fluid Level, Checking.

- Check all open line connections for leaks. Refer to => [ Steering, Checking for Leaks ] Steering, Checking For Leaks.

- Install the front lock carrier cover.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps appropriate to the model. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
