Convertible Top
1 Convertible Top
• Removing
- Close convertible top.
- Remove all luggage compartment trim..
- Remove the side trim panels..
- Remove the side padding..
- Remove the A-pillar..
- Remove the sill panel strip..
- Remove rear seat bench. Refer to
- Remove the safety belt at the bottom. Refer to Removal and Installation.
- Slowly remove the seat belt positioner.
- Remove the convertible top compartment..
- Remove the window shaft strip seal and window shaft strip. Refer to => [ Inner Window Shaft Strip and Outer/Inner Window Shaft Strip Assembly Overview ] Inner Window Shaft Strip and Outer/Inner Window Shaft Strip Assembly Overview.
• Bridge the wire to the sensor for the convertible top compartment otherwise the convertible top will no longer work electrically.
- Move the convertible top into the convertible top compartment.
- Unclip the hydraulic lines completely.
- Secure the convertible top compartment cover from loading.
- Remove the hydraulic cylinder for the convertible top compartment cover. Refer to => [ Hydraulic Cylinder, Removing from Convertible Top Compartment Hinge ] Hydraulic Cylinder, Removing from Convertible Top Compartment Hinge.
- Disconnect battery.
- Disconnect the connector on the hydraulic pump.
- Remove the left and right ground wire on the main bearings.
- Remove the left and right screws on the main bearings.
- Three persons are needed.
- Two persons lift the convertible top while the third person removes the hydraulic pump through the opening in the convertible top compartment.
• Installing
• Gently raise the front rail when installing the convertible top.
• The movement of the convertible top will pull the bracket forward and it will be possible to install the top into the vehicle.
- Two persons lift the convertible top above the vehicle.
- The third person installs the hydraulic pump and the cylinder for the convertible top compartment cover into the luggage compartment.
- Install the convertible top.
- The convertible top must contact the upper stops on the plate bolts.
• Bridge the wire to the sensor for the convertible top compartment otherwise the convertible top will no longer work electrically.
- Connect the left and right ground wire to the ground points on the lower main bearings.
Connect the hydraulic system connectors.
- Press the switch to operate the convertible top in the close position.
• This will push the stops on the main bearings against the plate bolts and the convertible top will be in a defined installation position.
- Tighten the screws on the main bearing to the tightening specification.
2 Convertible Top Compartment Cover
3 Bolt
• 30 Nm
4 Main Bracket
• When installed correctly, the stop on each bolt will touch the plate.
5 Hydraulic Pump
• Removing. Refer to => [ Hydraulic Pump ] Hydraulic Pump
6 Retaining Plate
Hydraulic System Ground Points
- Tighten the nut - 3 - for the ground wire - 2 - on the left main bearing - 1 - to 9 Nm.
- Tighten the nut - 2 - for the ground wire - 1 - on the right main bearing - 3 - to 9 Nm.
Main Bearing Stops
- The main bearing must touch the upper stops - 1 - on the bolt - arrow - on the plate - 2 - after the convertible top is installed in the vehicle.
- This adjusts the height of the convertible top.
- After the power to the convertible top and reconnected and the ground wire is secure, briefly operate the convertible top switch in the close position.
- By doing this the convertible top and the main bearing - 1 - is pushed against the bolt - arrow - in the plate - 2 -.
- This adjusts the angle of the convertible top.
