Cylinder Head Bolt Tightening Specification and Sequence





Replace the cylinder head bolts.
Tighten the bolts in a - 1 through 8 - sequence.
First step Install all the way by hand
Second step 40 Nm
Third step Tighten 90° further
Fourth step Tighten 90° further





Tighten the bolts - arrows - for the lower timing chain cover.
Left cylinder head: 3 bolts.
Right cylinder head: 4 bolts.
First step 3 Nm
Second step tighten 90° further

Checking Cylinder Head for Distortion





Check the cylinder head on several locations for distortion using a straight edge 500 mm (VAS 6075) and a feeler gauge.

Maximum warp 0.05 mm.

Reworking Dimension, Cylinder Head:





Resurfacing cylinder head (face grinding) is only permissible to minimum dimension - a -.

Minimum dimension - a - = 139.20 mm.

Camshaft Guide Frame Tightening Specifications and Sequence





The guide frame for the left cylinder head camshaft is shown in the illustration. The right cylinder head is identical.

Replace any bolts that were tightened with an additional turn.

Tighten the bolts in 3 steps and in the sequence shown.
