Telephone System, From 11.2008

Telephone System, from 11.2008

The telephone system consists of the following components:

Cell Phone Preparation (CAN)

The telephone transceiver (R36) is integrated in the Infotainment System (Radio) via the CAN-Bus. It also has a Bluetooth(R) Antenna (R152).

Operation is performed via the radio or the cellular telephone (R54).

Microphones for Microphone Unit in front roof module (R164) are integrated in the Front Interior Light (W1). One microphone is connected ( left front microphone (R140) ) with the telephone transceiver.

Cell phone preparation in the information electronics control module 1 (J794) (MMI)

The cell phone preparation does not have a separate control module (telephone transceiver), but rather all the functions are integrated into the information electronics control module 1. Operation is performed via the MMI Infotainment System or the cellular telephone.

Microphones for Microphone Unit in front roof module (R164) are integrated in the Front Interior Light (W1). On microphone (left front microphone) is connected directly to the information electronics control module 1.

Bluetooth(R) hands-free setup in the information electronics control module 1 (MMI)

The information electronics control module 1 is installed with the microphone unit in front roof module and is part of the hands-free setup. Bluetooth(R) connect the cellular telephone.

The Bluetooth(R) antenna (R152) is integrated in the information electronics control module 1 (J794).

Bluetooth(R) Setup (CAN)

The telephone transceiver is installed with the microphone unit in front roof module/Bluetooth(R) antenna and is part of the hands-free setup. Bluetooth(R) connect the cellular telephone.

The Bluetooth(R) antenna is attached to the telephone transceiver.

Fault finding is performed via the Guided Fault Finding function using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.

Notes on Bluetooth(R) Technology

A standardized radio connection system is used to transmit data between information electronics control module 1 and cellular telephone - Bluetooth(R) Technology.

An additional transmitter/receiver unit is installed in the information electronics control module 1. A separate Bluetooth(R) antenna connects the information electronics control module 1 and cellular telephone.

The range of the radio wave connection is approximately 10 meters (33 ft.).
