Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Camshaft Position Sensor
For the locations of the four camshaft position sensors. Refer to => [ Component Location Overview ] Component Location Overview.
- Disconnect the electrical connector on the respective camshaft position sensor.
• The following camshaft position sensors are installed in cylinder bank 1 (right): Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (G40) and Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 3 (G300)
• The following camshaft position sensors are installed in cylinder bank 2 (left): Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 2 (G163) and Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 4 (G301)
- Remove the air filter housing to remove the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 3 (G300) on cylinder bank 1.
- Remove the coolant reservoir to remove the Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor 4 (G301) on cylinder bank 2.
Installing
• Replace the O-ring if damaged
- Coat the O-ring with engine oil and carefully press the camshaft position sensor in by hand.
- Tighten the camshaft position sensor and connect the electrical connector.
• Camshaft position sensor tightening specification. Refer to => [ Ignition Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.
- Further installation is performed in reverse order.
