Connectors, Disconnecting and Connecting
The connector station is located in the vehicle floor under the front seat area.
Connectors, disconnecting
CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.
- Bring seat into service position. Refer to => [ Front Seat, Bringing to Service Position ] Front Seat, Bringing to Service Position.
- Disconnect battery ground wire.
- Open connector station cover - 1 - under front seat. Refer to => [ Modular Wire Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat ] Modular Wire Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat.
- Release cable bracket - 5 -.
- Press retaining tabs - arrows - on wiring bracket to do this.
- Remove wiring bracket - 5 - upward from connector station - 8 -.
• The number of harness connectors may vary depending on the equipment. The description shows the version with the most equipment.
CAUTION!
Before handling any airbag units (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove side airbag connector - 1 -.
- Disconnect voltage supply connector - 2 -.
- Remove seat heating connector - 3 -.
- Disconnect the seat belt latch connector - 4 -.
- Connect Airbag Adapter (VAS 6036) to side airbag connector on front seat.
• Ensure airbag adapter engages correctly.
Connectors, connecting
Connectors are connected in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

• Before handling any airbag units (for example, when disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
• Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.
- Make sure the cover - 1 - is engaged correctly with connector station. Refer to => [ Modular Wire Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat ] Modular Wire Routing with Corrugated Tube on Front Seat.
- Switch on ignition.
CAUTION!
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect battery ground cable with ignition switched on.
- If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
