Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Pneumatic/ Hydraulic Foot Pump (VAS 6179)

Hydraulic Press (VAS 6178)

Engine-/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A) with Universal Transmission Support (V.A.G 1359/2)

Assembly Tool (T10263)

Front or Rear Bonded Rubber Bushings, Removing

- Remove rear wheels.

- Remove the coil springs. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.

- Remove the rear muffler.

- Disconnect electrical lines to Haldex clutch and, on vehicles with level control sensor, connectors.

- Remove stabilizer bar.=> [ Stabilizer Bar ] Stabilizer Bar

- Remove tie rods => [ Tie Rod ] Tie Rod.

- Unclip electrical lines to upper transverse links.

Before -LOOSENING- subframe screws, secure vehicle against tipping over (e.g. load luggage compartment with approximately 50 kg).

- Place (V.A.G 1383 A) with (V.A.G 1359/2) below subframe and secure with strap.






- Remove the bolts - 1 - and - 2 -.






Only the left side of the vehicle is shown in the illustration.

- Lower subframe 10 cm using (V.A.G 1383 A).

- Mark location of bonded rubber bushings to subframe with a felt-tip pen.

- Install pressure head (T10205/13) in (VAS 6178).

- Install special tools as shown in illustration.

- Pretension special tools.

- Pull out bonded rubber bushing by operating pump.

Front or Rear Bonded Rubber Bushings, Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following when doing so:

The front and rear bonded rubber bushings have slightly different installation heights. Make sure that correct allocation when installing refer to the parts catalog.

Bonded rubber bushing must be installed in the correct direction, note marking on subframe.

- Insert special tools with bonded rubber bushing into subframe as illustrated.






(T10263/3) must be positioned so that locking tabs on bonded rubber bushing align with opening on (T10263/3).

- Pretension special tool with bonded rubber bushing.

- Pull in bonded rubber bushing until stop by operating pump.

When pulling it in, make sure the bonded rubber bushing only rests lightly against the subframe.

- If the vehicle has electronic damping (Audi Magnetic Ride), then program the control position. Refer to the vehicle diagnostic tester.

- If the vehicle has automatic head lamp range control, then perform a basic setting on the headlamps.

Checking and aligning front/rear axle must take place on a VW/Audi recommended alignment stand.
