Cylinder Head Assembly

Cylinder Head, With Screwdriver Access:





Replace the cylinder head bolts
Install the cylinder head bolts in the following sequence - 1 through 8 -
Tighten in 3 stages:
Tighten 40 Nm
Tighten 90° further
Tighten 90° further
Tighten the bolts - arrows - in 2 stages
Tighten 8 Nm
Tighten 90° further





Install the cylinder head bolts in the following sequence - 1 and 2 -
Tighten in 3 stages:
Tighten 40 Nm
Tighten 90° further
Tighten 90° further

Cylinder Head, Without Screwdriver Access:





Replace the cylinder head bolts
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in - 1 to 10 - sequence
Tighten 40 Nm
Tighten further 90°
Tighten further 90°
Tighten the bolts - arrows - 8 Nm
Tighten the bolts - arrows - 90° further

Cylinder Head Distortion:





Check the cylinder head in several places for distortion using a straight edge and a feeler gauge.
Maximum permissible distortion 0.05 mm

Cylinder Head Cover:





Replace the bolts.
Hand-tighten bolts in several steps in - 1 to 6 - sequence.
Tighten the bolts in a - 1 to 6 - sequence to 8 Nm using a torque wrench.
Tighten the bolts an additional 90° using a rigid wrench in the sequence - 1 to 6 -.
Make sure the cylinder head cover is not tilted.
