Wiper Control Module: Service and Repair
Windshield Wiper Motor with Control Module (J400)
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pry lever (80-200)
Removing
- Remove the wiper arms. Refer to => [ Wiper Arm ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the bolts - 3 -.
- Remove the clips - 2 - from the mounts and remove the plenum chamber cover - 1 -.
- Remove the securing clips - 2 - in the direction of - arrow A -.
The cowl panel trim could be damaged.
• Coat the space between the windshield and the cowl panel trim with some soapy water.
- Carefully remove the cowl panel trim - 1 - starting at the edge of the glass vertically from the windshield - arrows B -
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.
- Remove the drain channel - 3 - on the linkage - arrow A -.
- Remove the bolts - 4, 5 and 6 -.
- Rotate the wiper arm frame - 1 - with the linkage and wiper motor upward in direction of - arrow B - and pull it forward out of the plenum chamber.
Installing
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Motor, Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Insert the wiper motor with wiper frame into the vehicle.
- Tighten bolts, refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Motor, Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
- Position the water drain channel on the wiper motor.
- Adjust the wiper arms, refer to => [ Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
- If the control module was replaced, select the "Replace" function for the respective control module in "Guided Fault Finding" or "Guided Functions" using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
