Backrest Heating Element

Removing

- Remove the backrest cover and upholstery. Refer to:

• => [ Backrest Cover and Padding with Pass-Through ] Backrest Cover and Padding With Pass-Through.

• => [ Cover and Padding, Backrest with Cover or Storage Compartment ] Cover and Padding, Backrest With Cover or Storage Compartment.

- Separate the cover from the upholstery. Refer to:

• => [ Cover and Padding, Backrest with Pass-Through, Separating ] Cover and Padding, Backrest With Pass-Through, Separating.

• => [ Backrest with Cover or Storage Compartment, Padding Cover ] Backrest With Cover or Storage Compartment, Padding Cover.

- Cut the electrical wire - 3 - off directly at the old backrest heating element - 2 -.






• The old backrest heating element remains on the upholstery - 1 - and the new backrest heating element is bonded over it.

• Ignore - arrows A through E - in this reference.

Installing

- Align the new backrest heating element on the upholstery.

• Make sure the new seat heating element is affixed to the old heating element.

• Remove the protective films in the bonding sequence for the heating element area.

• When removing the protective film, make sure the heating element is not damaged and that it is attached without wrinkles.

- Begin bonding the center are of the backrest heating element - arrow C -.






- Then bond the top area - arrow A -.

- Route the connecting wires from the top to the bottom heating surface in the base of the gaps - B arrows -.

- Bond the bottom area of the heating surface - arrow D -.

- Pull the wire - 3 - through the slit in the upholstery - arrow E -.

Further installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
