Generator

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Locking tool (T40098)

Observe notes on contact corrosion. Refer to => [ Contact Corrosion ] Contact Corrosion.

Removing


Risk of destroying if the running direction of a used ribbed belt is reversed.

Before removing ribbed belt, marking running direction with chalk or a felt-tip pen for reinstallation.







- With ignition switched off, disconnect battery ground wire. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- To release the tension on the ribbed belt, turn the tensioning element clockwise - arrow -.

- Use the locking tool (T40098) to secure the tensioning element.

- Remove ribbed belt.

- Remove the screws - arrows - and move the generator forward.





- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.





- Remove terminal 30/B+ - item 2 -.

- Remove the generator.

Installing





Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Generator without Bushings Assembly Overview ] Generator Without Bushings Assembly Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Mount the ribbed belt over the ribbed belt pulley in the specified sequence.

1. Vibration damper

2. Coolant pump

3. Ribbed belt tensioner

4. Generator

5. Power steering pump

6. A/C Compressor

When installing the ribbed belt, make sure it is seated correctly on the belt pulley.

- Connect battery. Required actions => [ Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.

- Start the engine and check the ribbed belt to make sure it is working correctly.
