Front Bumper Cover

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine Bung Set (VAS 6122)

Removing






- Remove front wheel housing liner. Refer to => [ Front Wheel Housing Liner ] Front Wheel Housing Liner.

- Remove the wheel spoiler. Refer to => [ Front Wheel Spoiler ] Front Wheel Spoiler.

- Place a drip tray under the separating point for the windshield washer fluid hose.

- Pull the clip - arrow - and disconnect the windshield washer fluid hose for the headlamp washer system - 2 -.

- Close off the hose coupling - 1 - with clean plugs taken from the (VAS 6122).

- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 -.






- Remove the bolts - 4 -.






- Remove the lock carrier cover. Refer to => [ Lock Carrier Cover ] Lock Carrier Cover.

- Remove the bolt - 2 -.

- If the vehicle has a camera for the night vision system, disconnect the connector - 1 -.

- Disconnect the connector if the vehicle has a garage door opener control module.

- Disengage the side piece - 3 - from the side panel - arrow - and remove the bumper cover with a second technician.

- Disconnect electrical harness connector - 1 -.






- Disconnect the connector if the vehicle has distance regulation control module (ACC) - 2 -.

Installing

Gap dimensions, refer to => [ Front Bumper Cover Gap Dimensions ] Front Bumper Cover Gap Dimensions.

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Bumper Cover Overview ] Bumper Cover Overview.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Install the lock carrier cover. Refer to => [ Lock Carrier Cover ] Lock Carrier Cover.

- Install the wheel spoiler. Refer to => [ Front Wheel Spoiler ] Front Wheel Spoiler.

- Install the front wheel housing liner. Refer to => [ Front Wheel Housing Liner ] Front Wheel Housing Liner.

- If the vehicle has a distance regulation control module (ACC), then calibrate the control modules.

- If the vehicle has a camera for the night vision system, then calibrate the Night vision system camera (R212).

The night vision system camera must be calibrated using the Vehicle Diagnosis Tester in "Guided Fault Finding" or "Guided Functions" under the following conditions:

The night vision system camera was removed and installed or replaced.

The front bumper cover was damaged, for example, by a cement parking stop.

The front bumper cover was removed and installed.

The radiator grille was removed and installed.

The rear axle was adjusted.

Work was done to the suspension.

The entry "no or incorrect basic setting/adaptation" is stored in the DTC memory.
