Rear Brake Caliper Assembly Overview
• When servicing, install entire repair kit.
• Apply thin coat of assembly paste to brake cylinders, pistons and seals.
1 - Bolt
• Self-locking
• 35 Nm
• Always replace.
• When loosening and tightening, counter-hold at guide pin.
2 - Brake Caliper Housing with Actuator
• It is not possible to separate the brake caliper from the actuator.
• Bleed the brake caliper housing after servicing, refer to => [ Brake System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair.
3 - Bleed Screw
4 - Dust Cap
• Install the bleed screw.
5 - Seal
• Brake piston, removing and installing, refer to => [ Rear Brake Caliper Piston ] Rear Brake Caliper Piston.
6 - Pressure Nut
• For actuating the electromechanical parking brake.
7 - Pistons
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Rear Brake Caliper Piston ] Rear Brake Caliper Piston.
8 - Guide Pins
• Grease before pulling on protective cap.
9 - Protective Cap
• Install on brake carrier and guide pin.
10 - Brake Carrier with Guide Pins and Protective Cap
• Supplied as an assembled replacement part with sufficient grease on guide pins.
• If protective caps or guide pins are damaged, install repair kit. Use supplied grease packet to lubricate guide pins.
• Brake carrier, removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Caliper and Brake Carrier ] Brake Caliper and Brake Carrier.
• Brake pads, removing and installing, refer to => [ Brake Pads ] Brake Pads.
11 - Protective Cap
• Pull onto piston with outer sealing lip.
• Brake piston, removing and installing, refer to => [ Rear Brake Caliper Piston ] Rear Brake Caliper Piston.
