Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50)

Coolant Recirculation Pump (V50)

Mode of Operation

The bracket - 4 - for the Coolant recirculation pump - 1 - and for the Coolant shut-off valve (N82) - 2 - is connected to the body via clip nuts - 6 - for noise reduction.

The coolant shut-off valve and the coolant recirculation pump are connected directly to the bracket.

The coolant recirculation pump supports the engine's own coolant pump during coolant recirculation. It is activated by the Climatronic control module (J255) , to ensure sufficient and even coolant flow through the heater core for heating.

The installation of the Coolant shut-off valve and the Coolant recirculation pump depends on the engine and the equipment.

When the Coolant recirculation pump - 6 - is on, the coolant is drawn in by the engine via the coolant hose - 5 - and is pumped via the coolant hose - 3 - to the heater core of the heater (the A/C unit).

The coolant flows via the coolant hose - 4 - through the return hose - 1 - of the heater core and the coolant shut-off valve - 2 - (depending on the version of the engine and the equipment of the vehicle) back to the engine.

When the ignition is switched on, the coolant recirculation pump is activated directly by the Climatronic control module (J255) , depending on the coolant temperature and the control head setting.

If malfunctions are stored with respect to these components in the Climatronic control module, pay attention to the version, coding, and adaptation of the Climatronic control module. Check using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function.
